Anew treatment for premature ejaculation (PE) has been approved by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for men with PE.
The FDA has also been given the green light to continue its earlier approval for the treatment.
Researchers in the Netherlands have found that sildenafil citrate, the active ingredient in Viagra, is more effective than Viagra in treating the symptoms of premature ejaculation.
The new drug, called Dapoxetine, has been on the market since June of 2024.
“This means that it’s a treatment for PE,” said Dr. Ian Read, a professor of sexual medicine at the University of Manchester, who led the study.
The FDA is evaluating its earlier approval for Dapoxetine for men with PE.
Dr. James Hough, head of research at the FDA’s National Center for Health Research and a professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, said the drug’s efficacy is “a clear case of a new treatment.”
Dapoxetine was originally approved to treat men who had erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence. The drug was first approved in the United States in 1998.
After studies were conducted in animals and in patients with both ED and premature ejaculation, it was found that men taking the drug had a greater rate of ejaculation than those taking a placebo.
The study was the first study to show that taking Dapoxetine could significantly improve PE, or PE with ED.
Research has also suggested that the drug can improve sexual performance in men with ED.
In the Netherlands, the drug was approved for use in patients with premature ejaculation who didn’t respond to other treatments or were not responding well to other treatments. There are currently about 6,600 approved drugs for men with ED.
Viagra (sildenafil citrate) and Dapoxetine (dapoxetine), which are the active ingredients in Viagra, are the only two drugs approved for the treatment of PE in the Netherlands.
Researchers from the Netherlands looked at data from the U. S. and Europe between June 2023 and June 2023 to determine how effective the drug was in treating men with ED.
Viagra was administered to approximately 300 men in the U. who had not responded to other treatments. There were 11,000 men in the U. who had failed to respond to Viagra, and 15,000 men in Europe. The data suggested that men taking the drug had a greater chance of suffering from PE.
A further study of the men found that men with premature ejaculation were more likely to experience ejaculation in the second or third time they used the drug.
Dapoxetine has been shown to improve some of the symptoms of PE, such as:
Researchers also found that Dapoxetine was more effective than Viagra for treating premature ejaculation in men with ED.
While Dapoxetine may be an effective treatment for PE, it isn’t a new treatment for this type of condition.
According to the FDA, Dapoxetine has only been approved for use in men with sexual dysfunction.
The drug was initially approved to treat men with erectile dysfunction in the U. and Europe, and to treat premature ejaculation in men with ED. The drug was also approved for use in the Netherlands for treating premature ejaculation.
Dapoxetine was also approved by the FDA for use in the Netherlands, in the U. and the U. K.
